Note: We sent an email asking you to verify your account. If you have not received the email, please check your junk mail or spam folder.

Sport:

SET UP YOUR FIXTURES AND/OR EVENTS

Here you will set up the different fixtures and events you collect money for. For example:

  • Home matches
  • Training session
  • Winter nets

You can even set up for separate events, for example:

  • End of Season Dinner
  • Annual Subs

Here are some examples of how clubs have set up their events that should help.

SET UP YOUR FEE LEVELS

Set up fee levels in order to charge different players different fees for the events that you have just set up in the previous step. For example:

  • Student
  • Adult

You fill in the £ amounts in the next step.

Here you set the fee amount for each type of player.

Note: Slate takes a small commission. For payments up to £20 a charge of 20p + 2.5% of the payment amount applies. For payments over £20 a 1% + 2.5% charge applies. Remember if you collect just one more match fee per week or annual sub, the system usually pays for itself.

Made a mistake or need to change them or add more? Don't worry, you can go back and change things at any time.

Note: If your session expires and you log back in, you are taken back to the page on which you left off.

UPLOAD YOUR PLAYERS

You're now ready to upload your club's players to Slate. There are two ways to add players:

1) Spreadsheet: Simply input your players' details to the spreadsheet we provide and upload below. You can download the template you have to use here. It will be in your downloads folder.

2) If you prefer, you may add your players one by one

Once you have set up a player, each player will receive an email telling them to download the Slate App and to register with your club

Important: Treasurers/Team Organisers who are also Players or non-playing managers
If you are both treasurer and a player, you will need to set yourself up separately as a player in order to set up events and to pay match fees. For security reasons, we require you to have a separate email address to that with which you registered the club under, as this helps avoid any confusion.

Don't forget to download the App!
If you haven't already done so, please remember to download the App so you can use Slate on your phone and use app-only features such as adding fixtures and events

We use a players email address to identify their account. If you upload a subsequent spreadsheet with a change of email address this will create a new account for that user, otherwise updates will be applied on each matching address.

SET UP YOUR TEAMS

Please select for each team, a:

  • Manager/Captain
  • Assistant

These selected people will have additional
privileges, including:

  • Create events/fixtures
  • Select players
  • Adjust match fees
  • View who has/hasn't paid

You may edit Managers and Assistants whenever
you wish.

GoCardless

In order to receive payments from players, you need to sign up with our payment partner GoCardless. Some key points to note for the GoCardless sign-up you might want to print off.

1. Email Address: use the same email address for GoCardless as you signed up as Treasurer for Slate.

2. Select the second GoCardless package 'Standard' for payment.

3. For Clubs:

  • Select Charity/non profit as your "Business Type"
  • Select Unregistered sports club or society as the "Charity Type"
  • Then regardless of your club’s status, GoCardless will ask you to enter "Charity Details". Enter sports club name in "Official Charity Name" and enter club address in "Charity Details"
  • In "Your Details" section, enter your personal details and address
  • Bank account details must be the club’s details and the club’s name entered in the "Your name on customer statements" field

For Individuals (e.g. weekly five aside):

  • Select Individual/Sole Trader

4. Verification: You need to send 1p by online banking to verify your account. It may take up to 2 days, so check back in 2 days if you haven't received a confirmation email from GoCardless, sometimes they ask for more information.

Players should soon receive their emails from Slate telling them to download the App and set up with Gocardless. If they haven't, it might be worth reminding them to check their Spam folders. You can monitor who hasn't yet set up in Slate in the reports section of Slate.

As Treasurer/Club organizer, don't forget to download the App if you want to use Slate to set up events that you will manage like annual membership, club dinners, etc.
