Our Terms and conditions
We’re delighted to help your club simplify payments and communications.
Below you’ll find the legal terms that apply when using Slate , whether through our Admin Portal, Player Portal, or the iOS App. We’ve kept them as clear and jargon-free as possible, while still covering all the important stuff.
By using Slate, you’re agreeing to these terms, so please take a moment to read through them. If you have any questions, we’re always happy to help.

- Introduction
1.1 This agreement (“Agreement”) is between you (the end user) and Slate Mgt Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”), a company registered in England and Wales, company number 16368399, with our registered office at 24E Norwich Street, Dereham, Norfolk, NR19 1BX.
1.2 By accessing or using Slate via the Admin Portal, Player Portal, or iOS App (collectively, the “Slate Platform” or “Slate”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the Slate Platform.
1.3 You represent and warrant that you have the legal authority to enter into this Agreement.
1.4 Additional documents that govern your use of Slate include our Privacy Policy and Data Retention Policy, both of which are available at www.slateapp.co.uk.
- Who Can Use Slate
2.1 Slate is designed for use by club administrators, treasurers, captains, managers, players, and members involved in club activities.
2.2 By creating an account, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you will keep it up to date.
2.3 Your account is personal to you. You must not share your login credentials with anyone else.
2.4 You are responsible for keeping your account secure. Please contact us immediately if you suspect any unauthorised access.
- How Slate Works
3.1 Slate is a Software as a Service (SaaS) product. No installation is required beyond downloading the iOS App if using a mobile device.
3.2 The Slate Platform facilitates communication, attendance, and payment collection for club-related activities.
3.3 Payment processing is handled through GoCardless. By using this service, you also agree to GoCardless’s own terms and conditions. We are not responsible for the provision or performance of GoCardless services.
- Fees and Charges
4.1 We charge a fee of 2.5% per transaction.
4.2 GoCardless fees (as of this date) are 1.5% + 20p per transaction for clubs on their Standard package. These fees are subject to change by GoCardless and are outside of our control.
4.3 We reserve the right to amend our fees with 1 months’ notice via the email registered with the club or other official communication channel previously agreed.
- Account Suspension and Termination
5.1 Clubs may terminate use of Slate at any time by ceasing usage. There are no binding contracts or ongoing commitments.
5.2 We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to Slate if:
- You breach these terms;
- Your account information is materially inaccurate;
- You attempt to misuse the service (e.g., fraud, impersonation);
- You breach our Acceptable Usage Policy.
5.3 On termination, your right to use Slate ends and your data will be managed in accordance with our Data Retention Policy.
- Availability and Maintenance
6.1 While we strive for high availability, we do not guarantee uninterrupted access.
6.2 We may suspend services temporarily for maintenance or upgrades. We aim to notify you in advance where possible.
- Data and Privacy
7.1 We handle your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Data Retention Policy.
7.2 Personal data entered into Slate is used solely to enable the service and facilitate club operations.
7.3 Any personal data entered into GoCardless is governed solely by their privacy terms.
- Liability
8.1 Our liability to you is limited to a maximum of £200.
8.2 We do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under English law.
- Modifications
9.1 We may update these Terms for legal, regulatory, or operational reasons. Changes will be posted on our website.
9.2 You will be deemed to have accepted any changes after 7 days unless you terminate use before this period.
- Legal
10.1 This Agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
10.2 Any notices under this Agreement will be sent via email.
Acceptable Usage Policy
- Only request payments for legitimate activities.
- Do not create fake or misleading accounts.
- Do not use Slate for unauthorised financial activity.
- Clubs must notify players of any fee increases with 10 days’ notice.
